NANAWAGAN sa Commission on Elections (Comelec), ang grupo ng mga titser na bigyan sila ng dagdag na kompensasyon at overtime rates para sa karagdagang oras na iniukol nila sa pagseserbisyo sa May 13 midterm elections.

Ito ay base sa liham  na  ipinadala nitong Biyernes ng Alliance of Concerned Teachers-Philippines (ACT) na naka-address kay Comelec chair Sheriff Abas at pirmado ng Secretary General nito na si Raymond Basilio.

Iginiit ng  grupo na dapat lamang na mabigyan ng karagdagang kompensasyon ang libu-libong guro, na gumanap bilang board of election inspectors (BEIs) na nagsilbi sa halalan.

Nabatid na bukod sa mga technical difficulties na naganap sa eleksyon na dulot ng mga depektibong Secure Digital (SD) cards ay napilitan ang mga guro na magbigay ng mas mahabang oras para sa kanilang polls service.

“These unfortunate but not inevitable issues have resulted in teachers’ loss of time to rest and be with their families, as well as loss of opportunity to find other sources of income to make ends meet,”nakasaad sa liham.

“Teachers do not have much time left to recuperate as in a few days, they will be back in school for brigade eskwela, in-service training for teachers  and school opening.”

“In light of this, we request that justice be served for those who rendered extended hours of election service by granting them additional compensation on overtime rates,” dagdag pa ng  ACT.

Samantala, humihingi ang mga guro sa Comelec ng dayalogo sa  Lunes, Mayo 20, hinggil sa isyu.

Umaasa rin ang ACT na mapagbibigyan ng Comelec ang kanilang kahilingan.
